Fenston Carter Wood Flooring Natural Oak Brushed & Oiled
Natural Oak 220 x 4/15 x 2200mm
Our Natural Brushed and Oiled floor is a great product. With its natural beauty a natural floor has transformed so many areas and has been used in castles and palaces. It still after many centuries, grace us with its beauty on current projects today.
The warmth and depth of tones in a oak floor fill any area with light and subtle tones. The brushed surface removes the soft core, exposing the grains to reveal the beauty and form of the wood.
Oak has a tendency to be very hard wearing. With brushing, the floor becomes more durable so damages such as scratches and dents are less visible than a flat surfaced floor. The brushed oak is always a favourite with clients due to the look feel and most of all the textures which gives you the true feel of a wood floor.
Our 220 wide boards are fixed lengths with 1 split board giving you a lovey sense of openness and airy feel with the larger sized boards. An oiled product is always a advantage as you can repair these without having to sand a whole floor. Oiled floors can also be re-oiled or in many cases, hard waxed will last longer as this will protect and prolong the longevity of your floor.

Engineered Wood Flooring
Engineered wood flooring consists of two or more layers of wood adhered together to form a plank. Typically, engineered wood uses a thin layer (lamella) of oak bonded to a core constructed from a ply base. The structure formed with each layer at a 90° angle to the layer above.
Installed on many subfloors. Engineered wood is the most common type of wood flooring in Europe. It has been growing in popularity in North America.
Tongue & Groove
One side and one end of the plank has a groove. The other side and end have a tongue (protruding wood along an edge’s centre). The tongue & groove fit snugly together, aligning the planks, whilst hiding the joint.
Tongue & Groove installation methods:
- Glue-down method (Engineered and Solid)
- Floating method with an underlay (Engineered only)
- Nail-down method (Engineered and Solid).
Types Of Floor Finishes
- Brushed & Oiled – Steel brushed in the direction of the grain. This opens the surface of the wood, removing splinters. Oil is applied to seal the oak.
- Oiled – Oiled floors are the most common floor finish. Oils for floor finishing are natural drying oils of vegetable origin. These oils are not petroleum based oils & contain no VOCs.
- Lacquered – Lacquered floors tend to be more durable and resilient to scratching. The lacquer provides a flat and smooth finish to the wood flooring.
