Faux Sisal Stair Runner with Cotton Border
Transform your staircase with the warmth and character of natural sisal — without any of the upkeep. Our faux-sisal stair runner combines the classic woven texture of real sisal with the durability and practicality of modern performance fibres, making it the perfect choice for busy homes.
This runner is designed for a straight staircase with two taped sides, and comes with a high-quality cotton border. The runner shown features a navy blue border, but you can choose from a wide range of colours: black, brown, navy, grey, green, orange, yellow, pink, and more. Simply email us with your preferred trim. This is the Anywhere Ca-rPET boucle revolution 8363 carpet made into a runner with Navy border.
🌿Why Faux Sisal Is Better Than Real Sisal (Especially for Stairs)
Faux sisal is engineered to mimic the beautiful, organic look of traditional sisal, but solves every problem that natural sisal brings to staircases:
-
Water-resistant: Real sisal stains instantly with water — even clean water. Faux sisal does not, making it far more forgiving on busy stairs.
-
Easier to clean: Unlike natural sisal, which absorbs spills and is almost impossible to spot-clean, faux sisal can be cleaned with standard carpet care methods.
-
More durable: The man-made fibres resist fraying and wear, making it ideal for high-traffic staircases where natural sisal simply doesn’t cope well.
-
Consistent colour: Faux sisal doesn’t develop dark patches, fading, or uneven tones the way real sisal can.
-
Pet and family friendly: No fibre-shedding or rough texture — and it stands up well to pets' claws and daily use.
You get the same textured, timeless look of real sisal, but with a finish designed for modern living.
⭐Quality You Can Depend On
This faux sisal range is made from premium performance fibres, giving you a runner that:
-
Looks and feels like natural woven sisal
-
Resists stains, water spills, and general household wear
-
Offers excellent longevity
-
Maintains its colour and appearance over time
It’s a huge upgrade over cheaper online alternatives that often use low-grade materials and simply don’t last.

How to order
As a rule of them and for guidance only
1 step will require 0.5m length of runner to cover it.
Over 6m long and your runner may come in 2 sections for ease of transport.
It will make NO difference to the fitting however, if you want it in one section please contact us before ordering. It takes a little longer and costs a little more.
Please note well
Pictures displayed are a guide only, as colours can vary dependent on your monitor/tablet/phone - we highly recommend you request a sample piece before you order to make sure you are happy - we send them, out free.
This is a stair runner. Therefore the ends are not whipped as they will need to be cut to be fitted. If you want a floor runner with whipped and taped ends then please get in touch.
If you would like a landing piece to match or if you have winding stairs (check out this page here), please get in touch direct for a price: https://fenstoncarter.

Fitting
A straight polypropylene, man-made fibre runner can be fitting yourself. Here is a great video that explains how to do that: https://youtu.be/YlXagjGdv8w
Winding stairs, platforms and landings
A straight runner won't fit on a curved or winding stair. You need a special piece cut for that. You can find that here: bespoke winding stair runners with further instructions. For a platform or floor runner that needs whipped edges or borders then go here: Bespoke floor runners and platforms.
Finally, if you just need large piece to 'close-fit' that doesn't need whipping or a border then you can buy a piece of carpet from us. Probably best if we advise you on that but you can search for it in the search bar.
On a final note
On a final (final!) note, please be aware that a lot of time, cost and care goes into creating your runner. Regardless of where you purchased it from, if you have bought it on a whim with the intention of sending it back if it isn’t quite right, We urge you to reconsider, cancel your order and just request some samples so you can be sure of your purchase. We send them out free.
This is a bespoke, hand-made item and we are not liable to accept returns. Please make yourself aware of the legal guidance under UK law: https://www.gov.uk/accepting-returns-and-giving-refunds.
